Elizabeth Jones
Elizabeth A. "Betty" Jones, 64, Sidney, passed away peacefully at 4:35 a.m. March 1, 2013, surrounded by her family at her residence.
She was born Aug. 4, 1948, in Piqua, to Vernon and Alvina Prenger Ahrens. On Oct. 17, 1971, she married Michael Jones, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Terresetta (David) Oldham, San Diego, Calif.; a granddaughter, Kiana Holliarn, New York; seven brothers and sisters, William (Barbara) Ahrens, Versailles, Marlene (Gale) Ambos, Botkins, Dennis (Martha) Ahrens, Sidney, Ruth Kremer, Versailles, Shirley (Robert) Magoteaux, Versailles, Gerardine (Jeff) Bunnell, Minster, and John (Peg) Ahrens, Sidney; nine in-laws, Joe (Dorothy) Jones, Tennessee, Madilen Jones, Florida, Erma Russell, Omaha, Neb., Helen Dhine, Minnesota, and Charlottae Lunsford, Iris Ricucci, Jim (Maggie) Jones, Sue Doyle and Marsha (Richard) Cost, all of Sidney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers-in-law, David 'Red' Kremer, Frank Lunsford and Robert Jones; her mother- and father-in-law, William and Iris Hopkins Jones; and numerous aunts and uncles.
She graduated from Minster High School in 1966. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney.
Throughout her career, she worked for Sidney Truck and Storage; Holiday Inn, Scope, Va.; Malkey & Wells, Norfolk, Va.; the Beacon Hotel, Boston, Mass.; the Holliarn Hotel Chain, Fort Washington, Pa.; and most recently with Elsass, Wallace, Evans & Schnelle, attorneys at law, Sidney.
Her husband's career serving with the United States Navy provided Betty with the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. She enjoyed working and staying busy. She also opened an accounting and income tax business at her residence in 1991. One of her many projects was managing the financial accounts at the American Legion Post 217. Through her employment with the Holliarn Hotel Chain, she attended business trips as far as New York and Florida. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of the ladies auxiliaries at American Legion Post 217, VFW Post 4239, AMVETs and Moose Lodge, all of Sidney.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Daniel Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens.
