Clifford Garwick
Clifford Howick "Howdy" Garwick, 79, Mendon, passed away April 22, 2013, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Van Wert. His father, Clifford E. Garwick, mother, Maxine Clover Garwick Putman, and stepfather, Robert E.L. Putman, are deceased. Howdy and Dorothy E. Bair were married in 1952, and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Sherry Davis (Dan Gabriel), Celina.
A son, Scott R. Garwick, died in August 2012.
He began working at The Daily Standard in 1951 and retired from there as assistant shop foreman. An accomplished self-taught artist, Howdy enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors and charcoal drawings. He also created detailed metal and wood carvings. Howdy gave away most of his artwork but had sold a few pieces over the years.
He was a hunter and fisherman, and a member of The National Rifle Association and The Grand Lake Beagle Club.
No funeral services are scheduled.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon.
