Marjorie Borden
Marjorie L. Borden, 94, St. Marys, died at 9:55 a.m. May 7, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born June 24, 1918, in Piqua, to Kenneth and Edith Cliff Magill. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Ella Smith Magill. On June 1, 1946, she married Robert R. Borden, who died Aug. 29, 1990.
Surviving are her daughter, Robin (Charles Tester) Kantner of New Knoxville; two grandchildren, Kaia Kantner Zelt and Parrish Borden Gebhart; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Zelt, Lindsey Zelt, Hayden Zelt, Madelyn Zelt and Dylan Zelt; and three nieces, Nancy Jane Lilly, Mary Helen (Dave) Sotak and Margaret Cecelia (Jim) Orgel.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Gebhart, an infant daughter, Diana Borden, and a sister Helen Lilly.
She was a 1936 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
She and her husband operated Borden's Bait Shop at Grand Lake for a number of years. In addition, she worked for St. Marys Decorating Company, St. Marys Woolen Mill and Leonhard's IGA, all in St. Marys.
She attended Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys and was a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club and JTDM hospital guild. She also served as an assistant leader for her daughters' Girl Scout troop.
Her favorite pastimes included fishing and playing bridge with her high school classmates. An accomplished seamstress, she made custom draperies and also served as an instructor for tole painting classes.
Rites are scheduled to begin 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Rev. Joy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
