Aloysius Meyer
Aloysius C. Meyer, 83, of Russia, died at 1:30 a.m. May 15, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Willowdell, to Frank and Frances Homan Meyer. He married Dorothy L. Hoying on May 24, 1952, in St. Patrick, and she died July 28, 1990. He married Anna Spornhauer in February of 1991, and she died Dec. 27, 1997.
He is survived by four daughters, Joan (Tom) Wyen of McCartyville, Teresa (Bill) Gariety of Wapakoneta, Rita (Steve) Rindler of North Star, and Eileen (Jim) Prenger of Minster; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Frieda and Gene Guggenbiller of St. Henry, Carl and Linda Meyer of Versailles and Paul and Mary Jean Meyer of Versailles; sisters-in-law, Connie Meyer, Sidney, and Alma Meyer of Fort Loramie; and a special friend, Jeanette Monnin.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Louis (Dolores) Meyer, Herman Meyer and Jerry Meyer.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport and was a member of the choir, serving as choir director for many years. He was a member of Minster F.O.E. #1391, had his own wedding band called the Meyer Orchestra, and was currently playing in the Moms and Dads Band for local nursing homes. He was a lifelong farmer.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating.
Call is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
