A farmer plants a field along state Route 219 near Montezuma last week. Chris Gibbs, Farm Service Agency director for Mercer County, estimates 99 percent of this year's corn crop and 95 percent of the soybean crop are in the ground. Planted crops are off to a nice start, he said, despite dry conditions earlier this month.
