A 36-year-old Maria Stein woman was killed Thursday afternoon when she drove through a stop sign and struck a semitrailer at the intersection of state routes 29 and 118.

Man admitted to killing his girlfriend in Rockford home

CELINA - Daniel C. Martin apologized to family members of his girlfriend Melinda "Mindi" Shinn Thursday morning before he was sentenced for shooting and killing her Nov. 8 in the Rockford home they shared.
Melinda "Mindi" Shinn became a statistic at the age of 26 - one of 38 domestic violence victims to die in Ohio and one of 1,232 nationally during 2012.
