Marilyn Ahrns
Marilyn J. Ahrns, 77, Minster, died at 6:40 a.m. Aug. 30, 2013, at her residence.
She was born June 12, 1936, in Greenville, to Robert and Estella (Hoying) Bohman. On May 12, 1956, she married Edward C. Ahrns in Osgood, and he survives.
Also surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Debbie) Ahrns, Minster; Ron (Mien) Ahrns, Midland, Mich.; and Jane (Jim) Steinemann, Minster; eight grandchildren, Alyson, Caleb, Sara, Eric, Julia, Michelle, Maria and John; siblings, Suzie (Ken) Hegemann, St. Marys; Martha (Tony) Albers, Minster; Jerry (Eileen) Bohman, Chickasaw; and Brother Tom Bohman, Columbus; in-laws: Jim Ahrns, Dick (Janice) Ahrns and Bonnie Ahrns, all of Minster.
She was preceded in death by in-laws John Ahrns and infant Helen Ahrns.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and its funeral choir and mission commission. She was a volunteer for Joint Township Hospital, Grand Lake Hospice, The Retreat House and The Relic Chapel. She made many rosaries and prayer cloths and enjoyed bike riding and playing bridge. She was employed for 30 years as cook at Minster Elementary School and worked part time at The Cornerstone Shop in New Bremen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Monday and 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
