John Stinebaugh
John V. Stinebaugh, 89, Wapakoneta, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Sept. 8, 2013, at Auglaize Acres.
He was born March 31, 1924, in Auglaize County to Oscar and Edith Weadock Stinebaugh. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joan Cox Earl Stinebaugh.
Also surviving are two sons, Jim (Roxie) Stinebaugh and Nick (Peggy) Earl, all of Wapakoneta; two daughters, Marlene (Mel) Luttmer, St. Henry, and Sue Klima, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, Tony (Dawn) Stinebaugh, Eric (Jodie) Stinebaugh, Chad (Kristi) Stinebaugh, Kris (Pat) Graney, Mona Adams, Tina (Kurt) Vesecky, Valerie Seed, Chuck (Brenda) Klima, Jon (Natalie) Earl, Nicole (Kevin) Smith, Amy (Keith) Balster, Amber Luttmer and Anna Luttmer; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Theresa Schipper, Botkins.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Henry Klima; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter (Jean) Stinebaugh and Herb (Ilo) Stinebaugh; a sister, Kate (Virgil) Kohler; and a brother-in-law, Norbert Schipper.
He retired in 1986 after 46 years of service with the Stinebaugh Construction Co. A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, a life member of the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445, K of C Council 1272 and the former Wapakoneta Elks Lodge 1170. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A talented carpenter, he worked on many homes in the Wapakoneta area and spent his leisure time boating and fishing.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Wapakoneta VFW will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta.
Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund or the Auglaize Acres Special Needs Unit.
