Dolores Gaier
Dolores F. (Bruns) Gaier, 75, formerly of Fort Loramie, died Oct. 19, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, where she was a resident. She had been a cancer survivor for the past 12 years.
She was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Philothea, to August and Agnes (Buening) Bruns. On Nov. 28, 1957, she married John P. (Jack) Gaier at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Egypt, and he died May 11, 2008.
Surviving are four children: Randolph W. (Rhonda) Gaier, New Bremen; Joyce (Steven) Blakeley, Lexington, Ky.; Sharon Westfall, Minster; and Shirley (John) King, Minster; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Eric, Travis, Sarah, Christina, Natalie, Derick, Nathan and April; 11 great-grandchildren, Deandre, Kinzy, Alivia, Noah, Trevor, Nora, Paul, John, Isabella, Gianna and Levi; four siblings, Dorothy Lehmkuhl, Indian Lake, George (Rosie) Bruns, Chickasaw, Leonard Bruns, Greenville, and Helen (George) Barhorst, Fort Loramie; sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Bruns, Coldwater; Janice Bruns, Jackson Center; Ralph E.Gaier, Fort Loramie; Theodore (Joanne) Gaier, Fort Loramie; August Jr. (Carol) Gaier, Fort Loramie; Richard (Sue) Gaier, Fort Loramie; Rosemary (Jim) Brussell, Fort Loramie; Kathleen (Joseph) Brinkman, Minster; LeRoy (Lucy) Gaier, Minster; and Kathy Gaier, Sidney.
Deceased are six siblings, Walter (Dorothy) Bruns, Wilbert Bruns, Ralph (Alice) Bruns, Mary (Dutch) Ranly, Alvin Bruns and an infant, August Bruns Jr.; brothers and sister-in-law, Jim Lehmkuhl, Martha Gaier, Thomas (Norma) Gaier and William Gaier.
She retired from Globus Printing and previously had been employed at the former Busse's Meat Processing. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad. She enjoyed bowling with the Mom & Pop and Late Wednesday Evening ladies bowling leagues. She also loved fishing and camping with her late husband.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
