Timothy Smelser
Timothy G. Smelser, 69, Summerville, S.C., formerly of Celina, passed away at 9:12 p.m. Dec. 28, 2013, at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, S.C.
He was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Celina, to Gordon and Ruth Runyon Smelser.
Survivors include two brothers, Larry (Adele) Smelser, Celina, and Stephen Smelser, Winchester, Ind.; a sister, Susan (Jeff) Hoenie, Celina; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Connie (David) Royhans; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Smelser.
He was a 1962 graduate of Celina High School and worked at Shambaugh's IGA while attending WOEF in Celina. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1965-1991, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9509, Moncks Corner, S.C. He was an avid motorcycle rider, having logged many miles on his trips. He was a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group) and GWRA and was a charter member and co-founder of the Summerville Motorcycle Club.
Calling is 2-5 Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Military rites will be observed and burial will be at a later date.
