Ruth Houck
Ruth A. Houck, 76, Fort Recovery, died Jan. 11, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Corbin, Ky., to Clement and Minnie Brooks Bays.
She was married to Norman Upchurch on Feb. 7 1953, in Cincinnati, and he died Dec. 14, 1979. On May 23, 1980, she married Ray Houck, who survives in Fort Recovery.
Also surviving are two daughters, Donna (Terry) Black, New Weston, and Gail (Cletus) Tobe, Fort Recovery; two stepsons, Alan (Carol) Houck, Somerset, Ky., and Brent (Cindy) Houck, Findlay; a stepdaughter, Teresa (Dean) Hunt, Colfax, N.C.; a brother, Raymond (Jean) Bays, Eminence, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bays.
She formerly was employed at Fort Recovery Industries, Fort Recovery, for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Fort Recovery. She enjoyed traveling, doing word search puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene. The Revs. Dennis Kelley and Verl Ballmer will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
