Roger Dorsten
Roger Dorsten, 81, passed away Feb. 17, 2014, on the 12th anniversary of his wife's death, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born Jan. 30, 1933, in North Star, to the late George and Margaret (Huwer) Dorsten. On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Patricia Ann (Stammen), who is deceased.
He is survived by six children, Jeff Dorsten, Lima, Jane (Steve) Gerlach, Coldwater, Ron (Cassie) Dorsten, Celina, Peggy Dorsten, Coldwater, Kelley (Andy) Wolfe, Granville, and Kimberly (Scott Warner) Dorsten, Celina; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; two sisters, Mary (Thomas) Moeller, Fort Loramie, and Eileen Steinbrunner, Marion, Ind.; and a brother, Walter (Carol) Dorsten, Greenville.
Deceased are a grandchild; a sister, Pauline Dorsten; a brother, John Dorsten; and a brother-in-law, Harold Steinbrunner.
In 1953, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed general contractor and farmer in his early days, and after retiring he did finishing work for Ebbing Cabinetry. He was a member of Coldwater VFW #5135, enjoyed watching his grandchildren's athletics, playing cards (especially euchre) and cards, going fishing and rebuilding furniture. He also enjoyed socializing at local restaurants where he entertained patrons and staff with his jokes and teasing.
A celebration of his life is 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
His body is being donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program.
