Arlene Brandewie
Arlene M. Bernard Brandewie, 77, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes on March 4, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born June 19, 1936, in St. Henry, to William and Ada Ahlers Bernard. On May 4, 1955, she married Maurice J. Brandewie at St. Henry Catholic Church, and he died March 16, 1988.
Surviving are five children, Robert Brandewie, Findlay, Beverly Coles, Sidney, Brenda Platfoot (fiance Lonnie Miller), Kettlersville, Barb Duncum (fiance David Duckro), Anna; Bonnie Brandewie (fiance Kevin Wendel), Fort Loramie; nine grandchildren, Jesse (LeAnn), Kevin and Kyle (Melissa) Brandewie, Josh Coles, Dustin (Charity) and Ryan (Kelly) Platfoot, Desiree (Shawn) Stangel, Brad (Jenny) Duncum, Amanda (AJ) Dulaney; 11 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Norman "Rocky" Bernard, New Weston, Edna Fox, St. Henry, Arthur (Janet) Bernard, St. Henry, and Allen Bernard, Cincinnati; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ginny Brandewie, Minster, Lester Brandewie, Celina, Paul Brandewie, Sidney, Joannie (Paul) Maurer, Fort Loramie and a stepbrother-in-law, Jim (Carol) Bornhorst, Fort Loramie.
She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Bernard, John Fox, Lillian and Eugene Sherman, Joe, Dorothy, Walter and Dolores, Jean and Rose Brandewie.
She retired in 2006 from Dorothy Love in Sidney, where she had been housekeeping supervisor for many years. She attended St. Michael Catholic Church and had been a member of the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many Friday night bingo games at the Minster Knights of Columbus Hall. She also was known by her family to be a prayerful person.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie, the Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
