Doris Sites
Doris Marie Sites, 80, of Rockford, died at 12:55 a.m. April 1, 2014, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born Jan. 15, 1934, in Ohio City, to Noah Asa and Mary Ruth Williamson George. On April 6, 1956, she married Ole Sites, who preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1999.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan (Leonard) Holdcraft, Bucyrus; Sarah (Rick) Curry, Mansfield; Shirley (Kevin) Kirkendall, Lucas; and Sandra (Doug) Grooms, Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Jacob Kirkendall, Jessica (Randy) Patton, Collin (Katie) Grooms, Taylor Grooms, Scott Curry, Dorothy Dudley, David Holdcraft and Paul Holdcraft; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Dudley; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Eileen (Earl) Klosterman, Tavares, Fla.; Ruth Sites, Celina; Ruthie Sites, Rockford; Martha Van Winkle, New London, Iowa; and Betty and John Sites, Celina. One "adopted daughter," Phyllis (Cary) Giardullo, survives in Cincinnati.
Deceased are two brothers, Arthur and David George.
She was a homemaker and a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, Celina. She was an active volunteer at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford, and in her church.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell, Celina, the Rev. Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Celina; Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert; or to the Celina Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice.
