Margaret Yahl
Margaret M. Yahl, 102, formerly of St. Marys, died at 5:20 p.m. April 21, 2014, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 26, 1911, in Celina, to Carl and Freda Clott Hoenie. On Sept. 19, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, she married Franklin Yahl, who died Dec. 12, 1983.
Surviving are two sons, John (Janet Lane) Yahl and Edward (Linda) Yahl, all of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Anna (Kenneth) McCusker, New Rochelle, N.Y., Sara (Brian) Riggenbach, Huntersville, N.C., Marc (Jennifer) Yahl, San Diego, Calif., Heidi Yahl, Spencerville, Ryan (Brandy) Yahl, Anna, and Jeffrey (Paula) Yahl, St. Marys; eight great-grandchildren, Deborah Yahl, Caleb Yahl, Andrew Robinson, Olivia McCuskey, Maxwell Riggenbach, Nathan McCuskey, Elijah Riggenbach and Eliza Yahl; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Carter and Cayden Ballweg.
Also deceased are a daughter-in-law, Susan Yahl; a sister, Bernice Vermillion; and two brothers, Robert Hoenie and William Hoenie.
She was a homemaker and farm wife. She sold fresh eggs and sweet potato plants for many years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Faith Circle and the Dorcas Society, serving as a past president. She served on the church funeral dinner committee and was a member of the Pleasant Hour Club.
Faith, family and hard work were the cornerstones of her life. She volunteered countless hours to her church. Over the years, she visited and spread cheer to many people confined to their homes, hospitals and nursing homes.
Rites are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller–Long & Folk Funeral Home, High Street Chapel, St. Marys.
