Ball threatened men with weapons in home invasion

MINSTER - An 18-year-old Marion Local graduate was sentenced Thursday to a total of 26 1/2 years in prison for threatening an elderly man and his son with weapons in a home invasion in February.
Austin B. Ball - who also faces desertion charges for being absent without leave from the U.S. Marine Corps - told Auglaize County Judge Frederick Pepple he committed the crime in rural Minster to obtain a vehicle to see his girlfriend in Hamilton. [More]

Division III Regional Baseball Semifinals
ELIDA - Derek Thobe threw six innings of five-hit baseball and the Coldwater offense provided plenty of runs as the Cavaliers advanced to the Division III regional championship game with a 7-3 win over Fredericktown on Thursday at Ed Sandy Field in Elida.
Whitney Schaefer chose the University of St. Francis for its medical program. She'll also play some little volleyball as well.
The recent Coldwater graduate signed with the NAIA school in Fort Wayne late last week.
