Virginia Housman
Virginia Pauline "Ginny" Housman, 83, Greenville, passed away June 8, 2014, at 4:18 a.m. at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton.
She was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Celina, to Fred Delbert and Gladys Julia Bolton Behm.
On Aug. 12, 1950, she married Jack Housman, who survives.
Also surviving are their four children, Pamela Yeager, Robert Housman, Mark Housman and Cynthia Housman; five grandchildren, Scott Mallory, Jess Mallory, Parker Housman, Dexter Housman and Darci Housman; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kate Mallory, and Margot and Reece Mallory; and two daughters-in-law, Kathleen Housman and Grace Housman.
She attended Fairmont High School, Dayton, and retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She was an accomplished pianist. She taught piano, played the church organ, composed her own music and later served her community by bringing her talents to nursing facilities in the Darke County area. She was passionate about genealogy and Indian lore, and loved her tenure as a volunteer at Garst Museum in Greenville. She always lovingly put her family first. We will miss and never forget her.
A prayer service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Randall Washburn officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Garst Museum or Hospice of Dayton.
