Maurice Feltz
Maurice J. "Moe" Feltz, 89, Harbor Point in Celina, died 3:03 a.m. June 21, 2014, at Celina Manor Nursing Home, Celina.
He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Cassella, to Albert "Blackie" and Catherine Frong Feltz. In October 1977, he married Sally Steen-Adams, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Paula (Doug) Elkins, Dayton; two stepdaughters, Karen (Jim) Perts, Celina, and Cindy (Patrick) Staudenheimer, Louisville, Ky.; two grandsons, Nicholas Elkins and Benjamin Feltz; two stepgranddaughters, Nicole Staudenheimer and Sarah Staudenheimer; two stepgrandsons, Dallas (Deb) Perts, Minster, and Justin Perts, Erie, Pa; a sister, Dorothy Feltz, Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Julia Feltz, Maria Stein, and Phyllis Blew, Celina; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Michael Feltz and Nicholas Feltz; a brother, Mickey (Julia) Feltz; and a sister, Lillian (Henry) Leugers.
He attended Cassella school and attended college in Indiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
He retired from the State of Ohio, where he worked as an investigator in the fraud unit. He had previously been employed at Huffy Bicycle Company and Reynolds & Reynolds, both in Celina, and New Idea, Coldwater.
He served in multiple roles as post commander and commander of the Coldwater American Legion and was a finance officer and a member of the color guard for the St. Marys American Legion Post 323. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 9289, St. Marys, and was a member of the Celina Moose Lodge 1473 and the St. Marys Eagles Aerie 767.
His favorite pastimes included traveling, boating, gardening and riding his bicycle. He enjoyed dancing and thoroughly enjoyed being the "life of the party." He also enjoyed the years that he served as chairperson for the Coldwater Community Picnic.
Private family services will be held. Burial, with full graveside military honors performed by the St. Marys VFW will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
