John Bruns
John "Jack" Bruns, 80, Cranberry Prairie, died at 3:45 a.m. July 4, 2014, at his home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1933, in St. Henry, to Ernest and Alvina Schwieterman Bruns. On Nov. 29, 1958, he married Lillie Lehmkuhl in McCartyville and she survives.
Surviving are his children, Jeff (Mary Jo) Bruns, St. Henry, Kathy (Jacque) Borchers, Minster, Diane (Ed) Jutte, Minster, Mark (Karen) Bruns, St. Henry, and Lisa (Dan) Tumbusch, Minster; siblings, Bob (Florence) Bruns, St. Henry, Dennis (Betty) Bruns, St. Henry, and Judy (Ed) Bills, Celina; in-laws, Jim (Phyllis) Lehmkuhl, Sidney, Tom (Rose Ann) Lehmkuhl, Kettering, Dave (Marlene) Lehmkuhl, Minster, and Janet (Ray) Harting, Evergreen, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Jean (Bob) Fortman; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lehmkuhl; and two grandchildren, Dale and Emily Bruns.
He was the co-owner of Bruns Building, St. Henry, and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie, Coldwater Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein. He enjoyed traveling around the world, vacationing with the grandchildren, playing cards and hunting.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Hemm officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
