Max Schmidt
Max Joseph Schmidt, 62, Sidney, passed away of natural causes at his residence July 12, 2014.
He was born Sept. 15, 1951, in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Louis "Joe" and Marjorie (Liette) Schmidt, who survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are two children, Cammie (Ken) Huelskamp, Eads, Tenn., and Nolan J. Schmidt, Toledo; five grandchildren, Hannah, Stephen, Sophia, Mariel and Sylvia Huelskamp; five siblings, Toni (Mark) Stephenson, Sidney, Kurt (Marsha) Schmidt, Anna, Christopher (Jackie) Schmidt, The Villages, Fla., Carla (Bob) Minnich, New Bremen, and Scot (Missy) Schmidt, Swanders; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Deceased is a sister, Theresa Schmidt.
He was a 1969 graduate of Anna High School. Over the years, he continued studies to obtain certification in meat cutting and HVAC. He managed the meat department at Anna Foods IGA until 1990 when the store changed ownership. Since then he had been employed at Anna Hardware and Agrana Fruits in Botkins. In his leisure, he enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, McCartyville, the Rev. Les Schmidt officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Pearl Cemetery.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie, and 9:30 a.m. until services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
