Alma Rhodes
Alma Lee Rhodes, 78, St. Marys, died at 10:59 p.m. Sept. 19, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Little Clear Creek, near Pineville, Ky., to Robert Eual and Verda Partin Webb. On Dec. 18, 1954, in Jellico, Tenn., she married Matt S. Rhodes, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, Robert "Ed" (Sandra) Rhodes, St. Marys, Brenda (Adrian) Slone, Celina, Paul J. Rhodes Lima, Donny L. Rhodes, Wapakoneta, Gary T. (Molly) Rhodes, Proctorville, and Sonya L .(Tony) Slone, St. Marys; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Pat) Fuson, Walbridge, and Silas Webb, Wapakoneta; and two sisters, Bernice (Tom) Tuttle, Wapakoneta, and Becky (Garry) Hittepole, St. Marys.
Deceased are four grandchildren Garrett Rhodes, Joslyn Rhodes, Gary T. Rhodes Jr., and Matt S. Rhodes; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Rhodes; and a sister, Hazel Lawson.
She was a homemaker and had formerly been employed at Fisher Cheese Co., Wapakoneta, and Orchard Tree Restaurant, St. Marys. She was a member of St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church, St. Marys.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life, having lovingly devoted herself to church, husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning the fresh produce that she harvested. Each of her 16 grandchildren treasures the handmade quilt he or she received as a gift in honor of his or her graduation from high school.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Alva Joe Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Rest-haven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Long & Folk Funeral Home, High Street chapel, St. Marys.
