Carolyn Pape
Carolyn Pape, 86, New Bremen, died at 4 a.m. Nov. 26, 2014, at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen.
She was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Darke County, to the late Edward and Emma Trittschuh Schilling. On May 12, 1951, she married David A. Pape, who died April 28, 2005.
Surviving are four children, Cindy (Roland) Dicke, New Bremen, Charlotte (Mark) Schwabero, Naperville, Ill., Cheryl (Roger) Barlage, New Bremen, and Scott (Darlene) Pape, Dublin; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Treva Sander, Greenville; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Pape of California; and a brother-in-law, Don Pape, Harrison.
Also deceased are 10 brothers and sisters and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Dicke.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was named Worthy Matron in 1950. She was a lifetime member of the New Bremen Historic Association and the OCCL of New Bremen. She ran the Pepsi stand at Bremenfest for many years.
She loved to play cards and could be found in many different card playing circles. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events, as well as the OSU Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.
She loved her family members and always took time to remember each of them, and cherished her time spent with them. For more than 50 years, she worked along with her husband doing accounting for their business, Pape Accounting.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials can be given to St. Paul U.C.C. Window Restoration Project, St. Paul U.C.C. Memorial Fund or Wilson Hospice Care.
