Accident left eggs, dog food strewn across U.S. 127

CELINA - An Indiana man - sought by law enforcement for about two months - was cited for failure to yield after allegedly causing the crash of two semitrailers on Oct. 1 at the intersection of U.S. 127 and state Route 119.
David Woodruff, 37, Westfield, reportedly drove through the intersection in front of the rigs - one hauling dog food, the other with eggs - and left the scene. The white rental car he was driving was
caught on a surveillance camera at Moeller Door Sales and used to identify him, according to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey.
A hearing in the case is scheduled on Dec. 19 in Celina Municipal Court.
No injuries were reported but one of the semitrailer drivers, George S. Brown, 39, Gaffney, S.C., was taken to Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. He was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence with priors. A pretrial hearing in the case is 3 p.m. Wednesday in municipal court.
The second semitrailer driver was Michael A. Thompson, 58, Covington.
According to the sheriff's report, Woodruff at about 7 a.m. drove into the intersection from state Route 119 and into the path of Brown's northbound rig hauling dog food. Brown reportedly swerved the semi into the southbound lane where it struck the driver's side of Thompson's southbound semitrailer hauling eggs.
The two trucks collided and slid off the road into a ditch, scattering dog food and smashed eggs across the highway. About five gallons of diesel fuel also was spilled at the scene. The road was closed until 7:20 p.m.
