Ellwood Faust
Ellwood L. Faust, 97, Celina, passed away peacefully at 4:55 p.m. Dec. 19, 2014, at his residence at the Miller House.
He was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Moline, Ill., to Theodore and Emma Anderson Faust. On June 19, 1937, he married his childhood sweetheart, Evelyn M. Stoneking, who died Feb. 28, 2006.
Surviving are four daughters, Janet Hickman, Naples, Fla., Jill (Lloyd) Abert, Defiance, Mo., Jacque (Richard) Vincent, Gainsville, Va., and Jayne (Rick) Mosier, Celina; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
His life work was in the field of mechanical engineering, mainly in the design of farm machinery. He worked for International Harvester, Ben Pearson Agricultural Equipment, Avco New Idea and Garwood Industries.
He and his wife lived mostly in the Midwest before retiring to Naples, Fla. They enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, swimming and playing with his grandchildren.
He found great joy spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and the Masonic Lodge of Illinois.
A celebration of his life will be held in Moline, Ill., at a later date.
