John Lane
John R. Lane, 76, Elida, passed away at 5 p.m. Dec. 27, 2014, at his home.
He was born July 29, 1938, in Bell County, Ky., to Henlin and Ethel Owens Lane. On June 30, 1962, he married Jone Stauffer, who survives in Elida.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jacquie (Robert) Bice, Lima; a son, James (Casey) Lane, Naperville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Lily Bice, Lima, and Sydney, Jason and Jackson Lane, Naperville, Ill.; three brothers, David (Bonnie) Lane, Tazewell, Tenn., Ted (Carla) Lane, Palatka, Fla., and Bruce Lane, Patatka, Fla.; two sisters, Charlotte (Alan) Baker, Celina, and Patricia Tuttle, Middlesboro, Ky.; four brothers-in-law, William Muter, New Albany, James (Becky) Stauffer, Mason, Jerry Stauffer, Reston, Va., and Jeff (Susan) Stauffer, Mason; a sister-in-law, Patricia Lane, Celina; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Ruth Detrick and Jan Muter, and a brother, Sam Lane.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1964, while stationed in Key West, Fla., and Giebelstadt, Germany. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service.
His memberships included the Ford Salaried Retirees Club and the Sager Lodge 513 of Free and Accepted Masons.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, the Rev. Paul Scannell officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.
Memorials may be made to St. Rita's Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
