Marilyn Thobe
Marilyn Sue Thobe, 52, Celina, passed away peacefully in her home with her family March 6, 2015.
She was born Feb. 1, 1963, in La Porte, Ind., to Robert and Mary Sue Alt. Her father is also deceased. She was the beloved wife of Chris Thobe for 23 years, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Megan, Holly, Hank and Max Thobe; her mother, Mary Sue Alt; sister, Rebecca Goble; brothers, Robert D. Alt and Donald Link; sister-in-law, Leslie Link; mother-in-law, Virginia Thobe; in-laws, Vivian Schmitt, Cindy and Randy Grapner, Terry and Sue Thobe, PJ and Carla Thobe, Joyce and Pete Hierholzer, Glen and Ann Thobe, Gregg and Lisa Thobe; cousins; 22 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are stepfather, Donald Link; father-in-law, Harold (Whitey) Thobe; brother-in-laws, Greg Goble and David Schmitt; and two nephews.
She graduated from Winamac High School in 1981. She received a bachelor's degree in textile science from Purdue University in 1985. She worked for Metropolitan Environmental Services in the sales and estimating department. Then, she became a wonderful mother of four and volunteered actively with the Celina City School District, Mercer County 4-H program and throughout the community. Later, she was a librarian at the Celina branch of the Mercer County District Library where she found a passion as the program director (Rock Lady) for the Langston Rock and Mineral Collection.
There will be a gathering for Marilyn's family and friends 3-7 p.m. Friday, March 13, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 119 E. Fulton St., Celina.
Services are 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Calling is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Mercer County District Library, 303 N. Main St., Celina; to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 119 E. Fulton St., Celina; or to the wishes of the family.
Arrangements are being handled by Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
