Douglas Gehret
Douglas Joseph Gehret, age 55, of Gehret Rd., Fort Loramie, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at home early Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015.
He was born March 30, 1960, in Coldwater, Ohio, to Lawrence and Frances (Lange) Gehret of Fort Loramie. On December 6, 1980, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Doug married Sandy (Wilt) Gehret who survives.
Also surviving are five children: Matthew & Ashley Gehret of Fort Loramie, Gerald & Meghan Gehret of Fort Loramie, Amy & Joseph Knapke of Maria Stein, Adam Gehret & fiancee Kristin Jurek of Beavercreek, Erin & Mitchell Schwieterman of Cassella, and five grandchildren: Maddison, Bailey, Lydia, Liam and Eliza Gehret; six siblings: Bro. Mark Gehret of New Orleans, LA, James & Susan Gehret of Maria Stein, Kenneth Gehret of Sidney, Laura & Eugene Schulze of Sidney, Louis & Karen Gehret of Fort Loramie, and Alice & Keith Rindler of St. Henry; father & mother-in-law: Wayne & Beverly Wilt of Anna; sisters & brothers-in-law: Virginia Wilt of Anna, Cindy & Rodney Naseman of Anna, James & Tamara Wilt of Sidney, and Janet & Chris Crockett of Anna; along with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Robert Wilt.
A 1978 graduate of Fort Loramie High School, Doug had also attended the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School in Agri-Business. Mr. Gehret was engaged in dairy and swine farming.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, and in years past, served in the Adult Choir and on Parish Council. He was a member of Knights of St. John Commandery #300 (current president), Walk-Up Country Club, Shelby County Pork Producers, Shelby County Dairy Boosters, and the Fort Loramie Athletic Boosters (past board trustee); Mr. Gehret was known for supporting civic organizations and patronizing local businesses.
Doug enjoyed listening to music, an occasional movie, playing farm with his grandchildren and visiting with family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, April 27, 2015, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 2:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
