Viola Schmidt
Viola M. Schmidt age 89 of Yorkshire, Ohio died at 11:35 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her home.
She was born on January 30, 1926 in Maria Stein, Ohio to the late Henry & Clara (Schlarman) Prenger. She married Raymond S. Schmidt on October 15, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt, Ohio. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2007.
She is survived by children: Dorothy & Gene Schwartz, New Bremen, Ohio, John & Kathleen Schmidt, Florida, Richard & Joni Schmidt, Yorkshire, Mary & Joseph Larger, Russia, Norma & James Barhorst, Minster, Ohio, Henry & Pamela Schmidt, Yorkshire, Marge & Tom Eilerman, Versailles, Cletus & Josie Schmidt, Minster & Helen & Brent Goins, Sidney, 28 grandchildren & 1 deceased, 34 great grandchildren and 2 soon to be born, brothers & sisters, Edwin Prenger, Coldwater, Werner Prenger, St. Marys, Mary Ann Lefeld, St. Henry, Ralph & Ruth Ann Prenger, Botkins, Alma Meyer, Ft. Loramie, Cletus & Roseann Prenger, Minster, Therese & Roger Schmidt, McCartyville, in-laws Mildred D. Prenger, Coldwater, Marie Schmidt, Vandalia, Henrietta & Sam Doseck, Ft. Loramie.
She was preceded in death by brothers & sisters Norbert & Angela Prenger, Alvina & Vernon Ahrens, Leonard Prenger & Dolores & Louis Meyer, in-laws, Mildred E. Prenger, Norma Jean Prenger, Martin Lefeld, Herman Meyer, Adella Henke, Lawrence & Ruth Schmidt and Leo Schmidt.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood and of St. Ann Rosary Altar Sodality. She led the Rosary at church for many years and crocheted sleep mats for the homeless. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife and she loved the Cincinnati Reds.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood with Rev. David Zink celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 1, 2015 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
