Norma Poeppelman
Norma "Jean" (Goettemoeller) Poeppelman, age 85, of St. Rt. 66, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015, at the Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, Ohio.
She was born December 14, 1929, in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, to the late Mark and Stella (Brunswick) Goettemoeller. On August 17, 1949, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Jean married Edward Poeppelman who preceded her in death on May 27, 2002.
Surviving are four children: Dianne & Jim Maisch of Lima, Gary & Evonne Poeppelman of Fort Loramie, Jeff & Martha Poeppelman of Fort Loramie, and Joyce & Keith Daniel of Russia; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three siblings: Juanita "Nippie" Dues of Minster, Ivo Goettemoeller of Fort Loramie, and Jerry & Mary Goettemoeller of Miamisburg; brothers & sisters-in-law: Denny Julien of Troy, Marcia Goettemoeller of Fort Loramie, Verona Poeppelman of New Bremen, Mary & Linus Hoying of Fort Loramie, Hilda Francis of Russia, and Kathleen Mestemaker of Coldwater.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Alice May (Routson) Julien, Rose Marie, Helen, Roger and Judith Ann Goettemoeller; brothers & sisters-in-law: Grant Routson, Irvin Dues, and Shirley Goettemoeller, Norbert & Pauline, Herbert & Dorothy, and Elmer Poeppelman, Victoria & Paul Eilerman, Delbert Francis and Jack Mestemaker.
Jean was a dedicated homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, and taught CCD 40 years. She had also been a member of the Minster K of C Ladies Auxiliary.
Jean and her late husband Ed enjoyed many years of amateur/competitive ballroom dancing and had been with the Ballroom Friends group for 30 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, May 18, 2015, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
