Paul Kogge
Paul R. Kogge, 89, St. Marys, OH died 1:54 p.m. Friday June 26, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born October 12, 1925 in Moulton, OH to John C. and Minnie (Alden) Kogge. On March 6, 1950 at St. Paul's Church in St. Marys, OH he married LaDonna Burwell, who survives.
Also survived by: daughter Cindy (Joseph) Garver of Celina, OH; son Rodney (Denise) Kogge of Galloway, OH; son Scott (Mary) Kogge of St. Marys, OH; son Gregg Kogge of New York, NY; son Rick (Penny) Kogge of St. Marys, OH; son Marc (Sheri) Kogge of Minster, OH; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brother Carl (Wanda) Kogge of Wapakoneta, OH; sister Mary Louise Wale of St. Marys, OH; brother LeRoy Kogge of St. Marys, OH; brother-in-law Lowell (Jeanette) Burwell of Liberty, IN.
Preceded in death by: parents John and Minnie Kogge; granddaughter Julie Makley; brother Vernon Kogge; sister Ruth Kogge; sister Catherine Kogge; daughter-in-law Missie Kogge.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Paul was a licensed plumber and electrician. In 1952, he founded Kogge Electric, Plumbing and Heating Co. in a small building in Moulton, OH. The business flourished, eventually moving to its current location on Indiana Avenue in St. Marys.
He was a member of American Legion Post #323 and VFW Post #9289, both in St. Marys. He also served on the electrical board for the City of St. Marys for many years.
His favorite pastimes included fishing, bowling and playing cards.
Paul's legacy is one of kindness, patience, perseverance and knowledge. He successfully built a business and a family, and was very proud of both. He was generous with his time and loved sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Although he possessed an easy-going demeanor, his presence and influence left a powerful impact on those who knew him.
Services are scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys. Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH.
Visitation 2-4 and 6–8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.
