Wet & rainy Country Fest

Ivo Knapke of the Maria Stein American Legion on Sunday uses a paddle to stir a big pot of turtle soup as crowds start to form at the Maria Stein Country Fest.
Due to more rainfall in the area prior to and during the weekend festival, the grounds of the Shrine of the Holy Relics were saturated and very muddy. Many scheduled events from Friday through Sunday were canceled or modified.
Today will be mostly cloudy with showers and a high of 71, said local weatherman Dennis Howick. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with showers and a low of 61. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thundershowers and a high of 78.
