Officials not sure if additional runoff will affect algae blooms

CELINA - This summer's heavy rains have not greatly affected dredging on Grand Lake, but officials still don't know how the weather will affect the lake's algae problem.
Local weather forecaster Dennis Howick said as of this morning, the area had received a record 12.48 inches of rain this month. The area normally receives 3.86 inches of rain in June. The prior record of 8.48 inches of rain was set in 1958. [More]

CELINA - Local law enforcement officials' concerns are rising along with the speed limit on state Route 29 and U.S. 33 between Celina and Wapakoneta.
The new 70 mph speed limit went into effect last week. A measure included in the 2013 state budget increased the limit from 65 mph.

COLDWATER - An increase in the number of the district's special-education preschoolers raised district income and expenses for fiscal year 2015, which ends today.
I was shocked to hear the news that former Kenton football coach Mike Mauk was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.  
Mauk, who is head coach at Glendale High School in Missouri, will look to start treatment in July, per a story on Yahoo Sports.
