Jeane Spriggs
Jeane Spriggs, 88, of Celina, OH passed away at 7:55 A.M. on July 9, 2015 in State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, OH.
Jeane was born on February 27, 1927 in Coldwater, OH, to Cecil and Reba (Bigham) Monroe; early in her life her family moved to Montezuma, then Dayton, and finally back to Celina. On March 22, 1947 she married, Charles Lewis Spriggs, they were together for 68 years and he survives in Celina.
She graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton in 1945.
Jeane was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, homemaker and volunteer. She believed in "stay home" moms - thoroughly enjoyed raising her 3 children and making many of their clothes - a great seamstress. She was a Brownie leader for 4 years; Life member of Celina American Legion Auxiliary Post 210 and Life member of Celina VFW Auxiliary Post 5713; served many years for the Poppie Sales and was committee chair; member of Alpha Delta Omega Sorority; member of St. John Lutheran Church and Charity Circle. Jeane had a gentle caring soul and would reach out and help anyone.
Jeane is preceded in death by her father and mother, Cecil and Reba Monroe; two sisters, Dorothy Maus and Wanda McGrew.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Charles Spriggs; three children, daughter, Penny (Larry) Laudick, Dublin, OH, daughter, Ginger (Scott) Smalley, Fort Collins, CO, son Terry Spriggs, Atlin, British Columbia, CAN; she loved and found great joy in her 6 grandchildren, Collin (Melissa), Jason (Amy), Kevin (Katie), Cami (Pete), Mark, and Cassie (Cody); and 9 great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Ellie, Lauren, Shyla, Keanna, Taylor, Piper, Cooper, and Noel.
Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 13, 2015 in St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, with Dr. Rev. Jeff Gramza officiating; where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Private graveside services will be held at North Grove Cemetery at a later date.
