Marietta Holthaus
Marietta C. Holthaus age 96 of Ft. Loramie, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Upper Valley Medical center.
She was born on February 18, 1919 in Osgood, Ohio to the late John & Anna (Henke) Schemmel. She married Lawrence Holthaus on February 15, 1941 at St. Nicholas Church, Osgood. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1996.
She is survived by children: Karen & James Anthony, Ft. Loramie, Arlene & Jerry Wissman, Minster, Sylvia & Joe Grimes, Piqua, Jeanette & Dale Ranly, Minster, daughter-in-law Catherine (Mertz) Holthaus, Sidney, 12 grandchildren: Ann Barbara (Anthony) & Tom Gilfoyle, Gina Lynn (Anthony) & Barry Lucas, Ted & Amy Wissman, Lynell (Wissman) & Terry Bowen, Jennifer Wissman, Philip & Michele Berning, Beth Berning & Paul Schmiesing, Adam Holthaus, Sarah Holthaus Montana & Heinrich Montana, Andrew Holthaus, Ryan & Leah Newell, Kelly Ann Pendleton & Jason Lawrence and 5 step grandchildren: Mandee & Rick Cron, Jeff & Stacy Grimes, Kurt & Charity Ranly, Eric & Rachel Ranly, Tina Ranly, 32 great grandchildren, brother Norbert & Doris Schemmel, Osgood, sister-in-law Pauline & Urban Drees, Osgood and brother-in-law Leonard Peltier, Russia.
She was preceded in death by son, John Holthaus, brothers & sisters, Lawrence & Luetta Schemmel, Vernon Schemmel, Alma & Wilfred "Bill" Rutschilling, Rosalie & Dick Luebke, Louis Schemmel & Joseph Schemmel.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie, Apostleship of Prayer, Ft. Loramie Historical Society and a storytime helper at Ft. Loramie Library.
She had worked at the shoe factory in Minster and retired from Crown in New Bremen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Friday, August 28. 2015. Memorial contributions may be made to Ft. Loramie Historical Society and John Holthaus Scholarship Fund through Holy Angels and Lehman High School, Sidney, Ohio.
