Bruce Goodenough
Bruce Goodenough, beloved husband of 65 years to Beverly (Beidelschies) Goodenough passed away on October 6, 2015 at the age of 88.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Lois (Davis) Goodenough, a brother Page Goodenough, a sister-in-law Ann Goodenough, and a nephew Jeff Carter.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, dear sister Nancy Jane (Ron) Carter, nieces Lisa (Brad) Sjoholm, their 2 sons, Princess (Bill) Fuller, great niece Nicole Carter, Peggy (Max) Plaugher and their children, nephew Terry (Martha) Goodenough and their children.
He was a devoted father to Sherry (Ken) Betche and Jill (Don) Handel, cherished grandfather to Christopher (Charlotte) Betche, Alison (Justin) Ertley, and Amy (Ken) Hall and great grandfather to Crescent and Crispin Betche and Forrest Hall.
Bruce served in the US Navy from 1945-46 and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1947. He worked at Morris Brothers and Hod Paul's Men's Store, Ohio Power Company, Standard Oil of Ohio (18 years), and Ohio Department of Natural Resources for 18 years as a park ranger, District 2 Law Enforcement Trainer, and a State Park Manager. He also worked part time at Celina Group Insurance.
He was a life member of the American Legion local post 598, a life member of VFW post 3283, Huber Heights Senior Center, Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He attended the Honor Flight for World War II Veterans to Washington D.C. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, a church choir member and a singer for his entire adult life and he loved making tin men, airplanes, and fish out of recycled materials.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday October 9, 2015 at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5464 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, Ohio with Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Lima Memorial Park Cemetery, 3000 Harding Highway Lima, Ohio, with military honors.
Visitation will be held at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Huber Heights an hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
