Rose Bednarcik
Rose Ann Bednarcik, 79, of Dover, Delaware passed away in her home on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
Rose was born on November 9, 1936 in Burkettsville, Ohio and was the daughter of Raymond and Alma Broerman.
Rose had two married sisters; Irene Fink and Benita Rindler. She had three married brothers; Daniel, Fred and Ed Broerman.
After graduation from High School in 1955, Rose moved to Dayton, OH and began a civil service career with the Department of Defense at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Rose eventually retired in 2012 after a long and successful career with the Department of Defense.
It was while working at Wright Patterson AFB that Rose met and fell in love with a sailor in the United States Navy, Raymond (Ray) Stanley Bednarcik. Rose married Ray on May 6, 1957.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane Courtney and her husband Vaughn Courtney of Dover, DE; two sons, Raymond S. Bednarcik III and his wife Deborah of California, MD and Robert Bednarcik and his wife Donna of Stafford, VA; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Rigby and husband Brian Rigby of Annapolis, MD, Erin and husband Captain Daniel MacLeish (Delaware National Guard) of Bear, DE, Dr. Jennifer and husband Shea Frazier of California, MD, Raymond Bednarcik IV of Poplar, MT, Vaughn Courtney, Jr., of Wilmington, DE, Alexandra, Jessica, and Madison Bednarcik of Stafford, VA; great grandchildren, Cullen and James Rigby of Annapolis, MD and Daniel Jr. and Declan MacLeish of Bear, DE.
After settling in Dover, Rose earned her degree in nursing and selflessly served at Milford Memorial Hospital and the Smyrna Home for the Chronically Ill.
Rose beat the odds as a three-time cancer survivor.
Rose had a passion for travel and loved to visit Churches all over the world. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed spending many evenings with her close friends. Her undeniable love for her family and friends was obvious to everyone who knew Rose.
Rose is now re-united with the love of her life, Ray.
A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 29 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE.
A funeral Catholic Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Samaritans of the Church of the Holy Cross. As a pro-life community, the mission of the Samaritans is to protect and provide assistance to those in need within the Dover community.
Rose was an active volunteer in the Church of the Holy Cross Food Pantry. Rose would purchase, sort, shelve, pack and distribute food that is given to needy families.
