Thomas Hamberg
Thomas A. Hamberg, age 84, of Coldwater, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.
He was born March 27, 1931 in Coldwater to the late Edward & Alvina (Schenking) Hamberg. On January 19, 1952, he married Patricia L. (Bertke) and she died June 16, 2015.
He was blessed by four children, Mike & Judy (Weitzel) Hamberg of Montezuma, Elaine & Mike Rindler of St. Henry, Sharon & Sandy Hower of Elida, and Ellen & Doug Homan of St. Anthony; eleven grandchildren, Carrie (Hamberg) Stacy, Kelly Hamberg, Rob Rindler, Natasha (Rindler) Lefeld, Amy (Rindler) Reichert, Lindsay (Rindler) Burgett, Keith Homan, Katie Homan, Betsy (Homan) Klosterman, Lucas Homan and Cody Homan; two step grandchildren, Kirsten (Hower) Fletcher and Kayle Hower; sixteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Doris Ann Birt of St. Henry.
Tom was the last surviving member of his family. He is preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Hamberg, Howard Hamberg, Thelma & Walter Miller, Lavine & Don Wendeln, Ralph & Cindy Hamberg, Luella & Dick Meyer, Joan & Maurice Stammen, and Don & Peg Hamberg, and in-laws Paul & Lucille Bertke and Robert Birt.
It was at Edgewater Park where Tom met and fell in love with his wife Pat, with whom he spent 63 adventurous years. One of his passions was camping with his wife, children and grandchildren.
After retirement from the former New Idea Plant in Coldwater, Tom & Pat traveled to all 50 states and he was able to tell you the best route to any destination in the United States. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He also was an avid Coldwater Cavalier fan and loved watching his grandchildren's activities.
Tom proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1991, American Legion Post #470, V.F.W. Post #5135 and Eagles NISCO Aerie #3025 all of Coldwater and a lifetime member of the D.A.V.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
