Alice Thieman
Alice Mary Anna Thieman, 77, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 2:50 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford. She was born in St. Sebastian, Ohio, on November 11, 1938, the daughter of Urban and Marian (Moeller) Huber.
She was previously married to Paul Bernard Thieman, the father of her children, and he preceded in death.
Three children survive: a son, Ralph (Beth) Thieman of Tipp City, Ohio and two daughters, Polly (Clete) Muhlenkamp of St. Marys, Ohio and Angie (Luis) Sanchez of Ottawa, Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters: Sister Cecilia Huber, St. Martin, Ohio and Phyllis (Dennis) Stachler, Burkettsville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren: Joshua, Katherine, and Matthew Muhlenkamp; Amanda Schuller, and Samantha and Sarah Thieman. Two sisters-in-law survive: Myrt Huber, McCartyville, Ohio, and Joan Huber, Chickasaw, Ohio, and one brother-in-law, Paul Billerman, Celina, Ohio. Deceased are one son, Henry Thieman; 3 brothers: Donald, Gerald, and Myron Huber, 1 sister Velma Billerman, and 1 sister-in-law, Norma Huber.
Alice was a licensed beautician, and also had worked at Shane Hill Nursing Home as a nurses' aide. She had lived in Rockford for almost 55 years, and was very active in numerous organizations.
She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and was a member of the choir there, in addition to being a member of the Christian Mother's Sodality. For years, she was on the Bereavement Committee at St. Teresa and was a member of the ladies group who made the funeral dinners; she was chairman of the Candy Sales at the church as well. She was also a past member of the Ministerial Association and of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
Calling is 2:00-8:00 p.m. Dec. 21 at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford, with Father Ken Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
