Lloyd Deitsch
Lloyd Junior Deitsch, 76, died January 16, 2016, at Via Christi, St. Francis, Wichita, Kan.
He was born February 10, 1939, in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of Lloyd Jennings and Ethel (MacDonald) Deitsch.
Lloyd graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1957, and attended the Graceland College in Lomoni, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1961.
A resident of Hoisington, Kan., since 2003, he has worked in construction, for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and most recently as a CNA for Sunflower Diversified Services and retired from Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation.
Lloyd was also the author of the book "I Have Cancer But It Doesn't Have Me", which was published in April of 2012.
Lloyd was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Great Bend, Kan. He was a former member of the American Legion, was past president of the Lions Club, and was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in St. Marys, Ohio.
On July 21, 1962, he married Barbara Behm in St. Marys, Ohio. He later married Bonnie Lou Kinne on April 7, 1980, in Beaver City, Nebraska. She died January 3, 2012.
Survivors include; two sons, Bryan Deitsch of White House, Tennessee, Brent Deitsch of Decatur, Alabama; a daughter, Elea Durr of Hoisington; two granddaughters, Brandy Fletcher of Silver Springs, Florida, and Ashley Durr of Hoisington; and three brothers, William Deitsch and wife Louann of Harrod, Ohio, Robert Deitsch and wife Sharon and Donald Deitsch and wife Suzie, all of St. Marys, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Bonnie Lou Deitsch.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Regan Scherencel. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
