Marceil Meckstroth
Marceil R. Meckstroth, 95, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, and formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died at 5:20 A.M. Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
She was born February 6, 1920, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Freda (Frisinger) Johns. She married Leo Carl Meckstroth on October 6, 1937, and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1998.
She is survived by her half-brother, Max Jenkins of Redding, California; by her nieces Terri Lynn Jenkins of Latine, Oregon; Debra Lee Mizell of Ocean Side, California; Betty J. Henschen of New Knoxville, Ohio; Sally Meckstroth of New Bremen, Ohio; Janet Craft of Saint Marys, Ohio. She is survived by a nephew, Michael Clark Jenkins of Oak Run, California. She is also survived by her grand nieces and nephews: Brent (Rita) Henschen of New Knoxville; Barbara (Dale) Niemeyer of New Knoxville; Sherry Meckstroth of New Bremen; Jeff Meckstroth of Saint Marys; Gregg Meckstroth of New Bremen; Kim (Bill) Fisher of Saint Marys; Dee Street; Dennis Henning; Dianne (Dan) Hoelscher; Deb Henning; Christopher Henderson; Stuart Henderson and Janice (Harlan) Lipshutz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her siblings, Bob Jenkins and Betty Jenkins; by a sister-in-law, Rochelle Jenkins; by her nieces, Patricia Henning and June Henderson. She was preceded in death by her six-year-old son, Ronald Lee Meckstroth.
Marceil was a 1937 graduate of Coldwater High School. She had worked for many years at the Pet Milk Company in Coldwater. She and her family had lived in Napoleon, Greenville and Mansfield, where her husband Leo was an executive with Sprint Telephone Company.
She moved to Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community following Leo's death in 2000. She had attended the Lutheran church while living in Mansfield. She enjoyed bowling and was a very active volunteer with the Salvation Army.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016, on what would have been Marceil's 96th birthday. The Reverend Vince Lavieri, chaplain at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, will officiate the service, which will be held in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein Saint Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Saint Marys.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral rites on Saturday at Otterbein Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Salvation Army.
