Margaret Henschen
Margaret "Marge" Elizabeth Henschen, 85, New Knoxville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:35 am, surrounded by family at her residence.
She was born December 25, 1930 in Ada, Ohio to Carl and Anna (Hoy) Smith, Sr. She married the love of her life Allen Henschen on May 6, 1951 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ada, Ohio. Allen preceded her in death on May 12, 2002.
She is survived by her children: Terry Henschen, of New Knoxville; Tom (Marlene) Henschen of New Knoxville; Son-In-Law Steve (Pam) Gast of New Knoxville; by two grandchildren Tyler (Jill) Henschen of New Knoxville; Kelly (Nick) Schoenlein of New Knoxville; a special family friend Sharon Kruse and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Carl Smith, Jr., and by her daughter Trina Gast.
Marge was a 1948 graduate and proud cheerleader of Ada High School and was a co-owner of Almar Farms and the Calico Cow and Cranberry Barn of New Knoxville. Marge was a lifelong farmer who worked alongside her husband and children, as well as being an avid gardener, antique collector, and seamstress. In her younger years, she enjoyed square dancing and bowling.
She was a member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen where she taught Sunday School. She also taught Catechism and Sunday School at First Church of New Knoxville. Marge was a member of the New Knoxville Historical Society, Civic Association, and JTDMH Woman's Guild. Most of all Marge loved her family, friends, and her Lord.
Funeral rites will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, Pastor Tom Sager, Officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 4-9 P.M. Tuesday at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen where memorial gifts may be given to Gideons International, Faith Alliance Church, or Grand Lake Hospice.
Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring Street, New Knoxville, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
