Freeman defeats incumbent McKirnan

CELINA - A former Celina assistant police chief bested the incumbent for the Republican nomination to be Mercer County Clerk of Courts.
Calvin Freeman, 60, of Celina, received 4,651 votes, 53 percent of those cast. He retired last year from the Celina Police Department after 34 years of service and now works as a Coldwater officer. [More]
Gelhaus, Cardinals gain 'elite' status

It's been a sweet season to this point for Fort Recovery alum Wade Gelhaus and the Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team.
It went from sweet to elite on Tuesday night.

Local election officials were a bit disappointed with the lower-than-anticipated turnout for the highly contested presidential primary on Tuesday but noted the casting and tabulation of ballots went, for the most part, smoothly.
