Berry Silver
Berry Grigg Silver, 75, of St. Marys, OH passed away Sunday March 27, 2016 at his residence, after a recent diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
He was born August 30, 1940 in St. Marys, OH to Melville W. and Isabelle C. (Grigg) Silver. On January 20, 1961 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, OH he married Dorothy E. Wright, who survives.
Also survived by: son Sean (Teresa) Silver of St. Marys, OH; son Aaron (Amy) Silver of Shepherdsville, KY; 5 grandchildren: Joshua (Candice) Silver of Clarksville, TN; Kyle (Stephanie) Silver of Coldwater, OH ; Allison Silver of Colorado City, CO; Ashley (Matt) Luthman of Sidney, OH; Adam Silver of Colorado City, CO; 2 great-grandchildren: William Silver and Wyatt Luthman; brother Melville T. (Barbara) Silver of Leipsic, OH; sister Leilajo (Joseph) Reineke of St. Marys, OH; sister-in-law Maxine Wright of St. Marys, OH.
Preceded in death by: parents Melville and Isabelle Silver; parents-in-law Donald and Opal Wright; brother-in-law Donald Wright.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and Ohio National Guard.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #323 (life member), Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #767, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Tri-County Gun Collectors, Western Ohio Fish and Game, and was membership chairman for the Auglaize Co. Medical Reserve Corps.
Berry coached Little League baseball for many years and also, served as a scoutmaster. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved sharing time with family and friends, telling stories and simply enjoying life.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 2, 2016 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ 201 N. Perry Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either St. Paul's UCC or Grand Lake Hospice.
