Rose Schroer
Rose Agnes (Dorian) Schroer died April 23rd 2016 at the age of 102. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Hillside Terrace Retirement Community, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
She was born in St. Marys on December 5, 1913 and lived in St. Marys until her move to Ann Arbor in 2007.
Known as "Biddy" since a toddler, she lived a long life illustrated by great affection for family, friends and those she helped in her nursing career.
Biddy graduated from both Memorial High School and Lima's St. Rita School of Nursing. At St. Rita one of her instructors was her older sister Alice Dorian.
She worked as an office nurse for Dr. Atkins in Coldwater, as a private nurse, as an industrial nurse at Goodyear, as a school nurse in Celina and a supervising nurse at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in St. Marys.
Biddy had an interest in art which she expressed in flower arrangements, oils and watercolors. After retirement from nursing she worked with her nieces Mary Jane Bowman and Kathy Sovinski at Venetian Gardens in Celina.
She was the daughter of Margaret (Fischer) Dorian and Hugh Dorian. Biddy married Jack Schroer of Coldwater and the two of them had four boys. Jack died in 1961 at the age of 46 and Biddy committed herself to raising her family, nursing and enjoying the companionship of her many relatives and friends.
Biddy is survived by her four children: Mike and Mary (White) Schroer of Chelsea, Michigan; Bob Schroer of Grayslake, Illinois; Jim Schroer of Brighton, Michigan; and Tim and Judy (Roney) Schroer of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy (Schroer) Hyde of Chelsea, Michigan, Jennifer Schroer of Chelsea, Michigan and Rebecca (Schroer) Cohen of Dexter, Michigan. In addition, she is survived by eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 30, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Visitation is at the church vestibule from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the family plot at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
