ST. MARYS - John Schmitmeyer has closed his South Wayne Barber Shop after 56 years in business.
Schmitmeyer, 79, started his nearly 61-year career cutting hair at 19 years old. A neighbor in his hometown of Fort Loramie, Alfred Broerman, got him started in the trade.
