Emergency blood drive

Heath Laux, an incoming senior at Celina High School, gives blood Friday at the school. School officials were contacted by Red Cross personnel earlier this week about holding an emergency blood drive to make up for shortages caused by the shootings in Orlando and Dallas. High school special education teacher and co-student council advisor Allie Slavik reported 22 units of blood were collected from 33 donors. "The Red Cross people were pretty thrilled," she said. "A lot of students and staff came, and community members. It was good to see everybody out." Slavik, along with co-advisor Paige Bader, volunteered with student council members to run the event.
