Norma Bergman
Norma M. (Siegel) Bergman, age 87, of Fort Recovery Road, Houston, passed away of natural causes Friday afternoon, September 16, 2016, at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio.
She was born November 20, 1928, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, to the late Henry and Alfrieda (Sommer) Siegel. On June 14, 1950, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Norma married Lester C. Bergman who preceded her in death on August 4, 2003.
Surviving are four children and their spouses: Susan Winner of Minster, Michael & Joan Bergman of Russia, Lester A. & Candy Bergman of Fort Loramie and Mary Lou Fullenkamp of Minster; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Betty Gossetti of California and Roger & Linda Siegel of Fort Loramie; sisters & brothers-in-law: Hilda Siegel of Fort Loramie, Ruth & Ralph Roth of Celina, Paul & Patricia Bergman of Fort Loramie; and dear friend, Lester Brandewie of Celina.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Richard "Beetle" Winner; one brother, Norbert Siegel; brothers & sisters-in-law: Urban & Teckla Bergman, Lee & Rita Bergman and Luella & George Sommer.
Norma was a 1946 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She retired from Wilson Health Hospital in 2008, where she had been a switchboard operator for twenty years. She had also been a devoted homemaker and farm wife.
Norma was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. She had also been a lifetime member of the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
She was known to be an excellent cook; she especially enjoyed making applesauce and baking cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
