CELINA - Search efforts continue as police try to locate a white male who reportedly robbed Second National Bank on Friday afternoon.
At about 1 p.m. the male entered the bank at 800 N. Main St. announcing the robbery and demanding cash. He obtained an undetermined amount of cash and fled the scene northbound on foot, Celina Police Chief Tom Wale said.
Wale told reporters at the scene the suspect did not show or brandish a weapon during the robbery. A police officer on scene told the newspaper that no one was injured during the robbery.
Police are looking for a white male about 6 feet tall with a thin to medium build, brown hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing jeans and a black, striped long-sleeved hooded shirt during the robbery, according to a Celina police news release.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about the robbery or suspect can call the Celina Police Department at 419-586-2345. Celina police have released an image of the suspect to the public to help locate him.
The bank branch was closed immediately after the robbery as officers conducted their investigation. Officers were seen walking in and out of the bank multiple times. Mercer County Sheriff's deputies also patrolled the area in cruisers and the Plaza Shopping Center on foot. Celina police used their K-9 unit to search around homes on Dogwood Drive behind the shopping center in an attempt to locate the suspect.
The bank parking lot was closed off with police tape until about 3:45 p.m.
The bank expected to reopen this morning.
