Catherine Hierholzer
Catherine M. (Katie) Hierholzer, 93, of Avon Park, FL, and longtime resident of Celina, Ohio, passed away at her residence in Florida on October 25, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She was born September 2, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ernst and Anna Louise (Hesse) Staubach who both preceded her in death. On November 8, 1944, she married John Hierholzer and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2016.
Surviving are her nine children, Mary Kay (William) Kern, Portsmouth, OH; Larry (Christy) Hierholzer, Lighthouse Point, FL; Jane (Charles) Loomis, Columbia City, IN; Mark (Pam) Hierholzer, Ansonia, OH; Rebecca (Raymond) Payne, Avon Park, FL; Pete (Joyce) Hierholzer, Nancy (Doug) Ballinger, Gary (Kay) Hierholzer, and Connie (Joe) Voss, all of Celina; 28 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Jeanne) Staubach, Lebanon, OH, and Ray (Jan) Staubach, Georgetown, OH; two sisters-in-law, Martha Dykstra, Brigham City, UT, and Joan Hierholzer, St. Marys, OH; caregivers and friends, Tonia Dykes and Vicki Mundo.
She was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Robbie Hierholzer; brothers and sisters-in-law Ernst and Mary Staubach; Ed and Kay Staubach; in-laws Charles Hierholzer, Anna Hierholzer, and Thomas Hierholzer.
Katie was a graduate of Hughes High School and the St. X Business School in Cincinnati, OH. She was an excellent homemaker who took joy in raising and spending time with her large family, and for several years she worked alongside her husband, John, in the family business, the Celina Wine Store.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, the D of I, and Altar Rosary Society for many years. She and her late husband, John, were also longtime members of Mercer County Elks Golf Course.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in Avon Park, FL. A memorial Mass will be held at a future date for Katie and John at Immaculate Conception Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to I.C. Parish Endowment Fund, 229 W. Anthony St., Celina.
