Three area Republican congressmen held off Democrat challenges to win re-election Tuesday night.
Voters in both Fort Recovery and Mendon on Tuesday approved tax levy renewals.
In Fort Recovery, two renewals were approved. A 2.3-mill current expenses levy won approval 482-226, while a 2.5-mill street repair levy passed by a 502-215 count. Both levies have been collected since 2007.
Linda Haycock, the president of Shawnee Schools Board of Education near Lima for the past eight years, won a four-way contest for the 1st District seat on the State Board of Education in Tuesday's election.
